How it started

Welcome to Langata Link Shops — a project long in the making, and one I'm thrilled to share. It began in 2014 with a stubborn belief: that the craft coming out of Kenya — the beadwork and the leather, the kikoys and the carvings, the jewellery turned by hand — deserved a stage as beautiful as the work itself.

We started small, with a single boutique and a notebook full of makers we admired. Inside our shops you'll find more than beautiful pieces — you'll discover the stories, creativity and heart of the talented makers who make Langata Link Shops so special. Each brand reflects real passion, craftsmanship and authenticity.

Ten years on, that notebook has become a movement. We've partnered with over 500 brands and artisans, curated more than 9,000 one-of-a-kind pieces, and welcomed over 600,000 customers through our doors and onto our website — sending a little piece of Kenya to 37 countries and counting.

But the mission hasn't changed. We're still here to showcase the very best of Kenyan creativity and skill, and to make sure the hands that make these beautiful things are seen, celebrated and paid fairly for their art.

“We don't just sell products. We tell the story of the people who make them.”

Made kindly

Kind to the planet, fair to our makers

Beautiful things shouldn't cost the earth. We seek out makers who work with what nature gives — upcycling waste into art, and crafting skincare, food and homeware from natural, organic ingredients.

Supporting them is the whole point: every purchase puts money straight into the hands of Kenyan artisans, paid fairly for their craft. And at our Karen complex you'll find one of Nairobi's few refill stations alongside a glass, plastic and paper recycling station — small habits that add up.

Upcycled & recycled

From Ocean Sole's flip-flop sculptures to recycled glass, we celebrate makers who turn waste into beauty.

Natural & organic

Skincare, foods and homeware from natural, locally grown ingredients — gentle on you and the earth.

Refill, don't bin

One of Nairobi's few refill stations, plus on-site recycling for glass, plastic and paper.

Fair to our makers

Every purchase supports the artisan behind it — seen, celebrated and paid fairly.

“A great place to visit and shop for a wide range of gifts and souvenirs. They have so many varieties from jewellery to clothing, shoes, utensils etc. The price is actually cheaper compared to most gift shops located within tourist sites. There are cafés here where you can relax and enjoy good meals”

“Found the Cinnabar Green range of natural products from body wash and shampoos here. The last time I encountered these at Mt Kenya Safari Club I thought they were only locally available until I bumped into them again in Karen. So I went online and found retail outlets. Loved the Langata Link Shops option as it is on my way. When I picked the complimentary magazine in-store, I realized that they have a recycling model where you refill containers instead of trashing them! How amazing is that!”
